The Hamilton Cardinals announced today that the game with the Toronto Maple Leafs that has been rained out a couple of times has now been scheduled. The game will take place on Tuesday July 28th at Bernie Arbour Stadium with the first pitch is scheduled for 7:30pm.
The Cardinals announced that for their final regular season game on July 28th that Canadian Olympic and Pan Am softball team member Carey-Leigh Thomas will be in attendance to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Thomas, a 22-year old McMaster University graduate from Ohsweken, Ontario has won three Canadian Championship Gold medals and was named to the All-Star team as a shortstop is 2006, 2008 and 2010 with the Brantford Bobcats. In 2011 she would join the Junior Women’s National team and then go on to join the Senior Women’s National team in 2012, 2014 and 2015.
“We continue to see local talent come out to Bernie Arbour to be a part of our game days” says team president JP Molinaro. He goes on to say “To open the regular season with Olympian Laura Fortino and now end the regular season with Carey-Leigh Thomas, another Olympian, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch is amazing.”
Fans will also get a chance to get an autograph from Thomas during the game on July 28th.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Tuesday July 21st when they host the London Majors to make up an earlier game that was rained out. First pitch at Bernie Arbour is slated for 7:30pm.
